To test our given APN and one provided by the APN-Mostly, we ran some speed tests on a Tecno Camon I, which is a 4G smartphone launched in 2017, I guess. In the first test, the result was 5.29 Mbps with a ping of 1307ms. On the other hand, when I added “hipri” into the APN type category, the speed increased from 5.29 Mbps to 8.03 Mbps. In the next test, with the same “hipri” added into the APN type, it went to 6.56 Mbps. So, just by adding “hipri” in the APN type in the APN settings, we have seen an increase in the internet speed.

Why Configure Jio APN Settings?
In most cases, your Jio APN settings should configure automatically when you insert your Jio SIM card. However, there might be situations where manual configuration becomes necessary. Here are a few reasons:
- New phone: A new phone might not have the Jio APN settings pre-loaded.
- Network issues: If you’re experiencing slow internet speeds or trouble connecting to the internet altogether, manually configuring the APN settings could help.
Before diving into manual configuration, it’s always a good idea to try some basic troubleshooting steps like restarting your phone or checking that mobile data is enabled. If the problem persists, then proceed with the following guide.
How to Configure Jio APN Settings
Android
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Navigate to the Network & internet section (or similar depending on your phone’s model).
- Tap on Mobile network.
- Find and select Advanced or Access Point Names (APN).
- You might see existing APNs. Tap the + button to create a new one.
- Fill in the following details:
- APN name: JioNet
- APN: JioNet
- Leave all other fields blank unless specifically mentioned by Jio.
- Tap Save.
iOS
While iPhones typically configure Jio APN settings automatically, you can check if it’s working by following these steps:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap on Cellular or Mobile Data.
- Select Jio (if available).
- If the APN settings are missing or incorrect, contact Jio customer care for assistance.
Troubleshooting Tips
After configuring the Jio APN settings, I recommend restarting your phone. In my experience, a simple restart can often resolve connectivity issues.
If you’re still facing problems, try resetting the network settings on your device. Go to Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth. Keep in mind that this will erase all your saved Wi-Fi passwords and Bluetooth connections, so make sure you have them backed up before proceeding.
If none of these steps work, don’t hesitate to contact Jio customer care for further assistance. They’re better equipped to diagnose and resolve any persistent issues you might be facing.
- I suggest checking if your mobile data is enabled. Sometimes, it’s the simplest things that can cause connectivity problems.
- Ensure that you have an active Jio data plan or sufficient balance in your account. Without an active plan or balance, you won’t be able to access the internet.
- In my case, I’ve found that updating the mobile network software can sometimes resolve connectivity issues. Check for any available updates and install them.
- If you’re using a dual-SIM phone, try disabling the secondary SIM and see if that resolves the issue. Interference between the two SIMs can sometimes cause problems.
- Check if you have any third-party applications or VPNs running in the background that might be interfering with your internet connection. Closing or disabling them might help.
- Try switching between different network modes (2G/3G/4G) to see if one works better than the others in your area.
- If you’re in an area with poor network coverage, consider using Wi-Fi calling or a Jio Wi-Fi hotspot, if available.
- Ensure that your phone’s software and apps are up-to-date. Outdated software can sometimes cause compatibility issues with the network.
- In my experience, removing and reinserting the SIM card can sometimes resolve connectivity issues. Just make sure to power off your device before doing so.
- If you’ve recently changed your phone or SIM card, double-check that the APN settings are correctly configured for your new device or SIM.
- As a last resort, you could try resetting your phone to its factory settings. However, make sure to back up your data first, as this will erase all your personal information and settings.
Remember, if you’ve tried all these troubleshooting steps and are still experiencing issues, don’t hesitate to reach out to Jio customer care for further assistance. They have the expertise and resources to help you resolve even the most stubborn connectivity problems.
